Online Law Degrees
With all the options that are available out there for people to earn their degree and get a better paying job, including online education, there seems to be an increase in the number of people that are furthering their education. However, online law degrees are one field that are going to pose problems for those that are wanting to earn a degree in law and be a lawyer. Why is this? Simply because as of right now there is no online school that is certified by the American Bar Association, what does this mean? It means that even those that get their legal degree from an online school are not going to be able to take the bar exam that is needed in order to practice law. But, with every rule there is always a loop hole.
The state of California is the only exception to the rule that allows students who have obtained a law degree online to enter into the bar exam to become a full-fledged lawyer. So for those that were wanting to practice in the state of California, then they are still in luck. But, what about everyone else?
For those that want to practice somewhere, but still want to earn their degree from the comforts of their own home, they are going to have to practice in California for a few years. And then, they may be able to go to other states if they build their reputation as knowing their stuff in the legal field. However, this is no guarantee, and people should not think that they are going to be able to do this at any given point. There have been a few that have been able to accomplish this, but they usually practiced in California for four or more years.
So what does a person need in order to earn their law degree online? First off, most online law degrees are going to require that the person already have all their other educational requirements met. Most of those that enter into these programs already have a Bachelor's degree in something that is related to the field. Once they have completed this work, they can then register with the state of California as a law student, which is mandatory for those that are wanting to become lawyers in California. However, for those that are going to use their law degree in a way that they are not going to be a lawyer, such as those that are just going to be working in a lawyer's office, they will find that this is not necessary.
In the end an online law degree is possible, however, for those that are wanting to practice in their own state, and that state is not California, they may find it a waste of time to get an online law degree, and instead may want to opt for a traditional law degree in order to know that all of their hard work is going to pay off in the end.
